It was truly a privilege to be able to sit inside one beautiful, grand cedar tree, ‘great grandmother’ - who is 22’ 9” around at her biggest circumference... at breast height she is 7’ 3” around... she survived a forest fire in years past and is burnt + hollow where one can sit inside...

When i received permission to enter inside Her, i opened a sacred space around me + began to drum... i was moved by the warmth + embrace sounds from my red drum as i played... the sounds completely held me... grandmother sang to me, ‘all is well... thank you for coming to be with ‘us’... as you know ‘we’ are all connected by our roots deep within our blessed Mother... remember we are all connected by our ‘roots’... everyone of us... including you...”

I was deeply honoured to drum within the heart of great grandmother + sound the sweet voice of our dear Mother... may this simple recording that was recorded inside Her help you connect to ‘our’ roots and our blessed earth mother - especially during these challenging times...

• recorded live on site at the great grandmother tree in ‘Elder Cedar’ Reserve, "S'ul-hween X'pey" on the unceded Territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation, on Gabriola Island, BC, Canada... on the afternoon of Monday, March 23, 2020... there are no loops, or any effects = just the sound of my red drum inside Her + her sounds sounding along with me... you may hear some birds or even a car driving by on North Road not far away... perhaps a plane flying over... tho, i didn’t hear any of that stuff.. just my drum + Her...
