about

'A Power From You' is an original song i wrote about being so inspired by a wonderful jazz piano player and song-maker, Louise Rose www.louiserose.com who now resides in Victoria BC... i first met her in the lunch line-up at Naramata Centre, BC when i was 19 back in the late 70s... she inspired me deeply when i first heard her play and thereafter - she woke me up musically from many levels in that moment.... Louise sings and plays right from the belly-heart-soul and can move you to your core.... i was honoured that she came to hear me play at my first professional gig... a special moment...

Now, years later, when i play and sing this song - i sing from the place where i'm inspired by so many amazing musicians and writers... music is a healing gift that makes us one and connects us universally.... i offer much gratitude for the beautiful inspiration they all offer and continue to...

This is a live recording from a concert i performed along with my dear friend and mentor David Campbell in Kamloops, BC August 25, 2006. It was a concert for David who was celebrating his 25th CD album. It was a full house that night at Kamloops United Church - a night i will always cherish and remember...

lyrics

...................................................

a friend came to tell me one day
how she had met someone in a neat kind of way
so she told me that you had a way with a song
and that i'd probably feel in a way - that i'd belong...

so... it came to be another fine day
how i came to meet you in another kind of way
i thought to myself - how i felt good with your song
it was so good to know and feel that i belonged...

i'll never understand to this day why
when i heard you sing your soul i came to fly
away somewhere in a sigh...
beyond myself way down... inside...

and that presence is still with you here today
and i feel it now in a warm kind way
i can feel it now as i sing my own song
i can feel your soul right now - it's there to be...

i'll never understand to this day why
when i heard you sing your soul i came to fly
away somewhere in a sigh...
beyond myself way down... inside...

away somewhere in a sigh...
beyond myself way down...... inside...
